17th Annual Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards
The 17th Annual Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards was held on Thursday May.28.2015 at Devon House Kingston Jamaica. The event created by Mrs. Novia McDonald-Whyte, serves to highlight and recognize local excellence in food service while celebrating Jamaican cuisine.
With 62 restaurants and bar booths showcasing a mixture of gourmet menu dishes, local cuisine, cocktails and wines the well over 2,000 patrons in attendance were treated to an eventful evening.
The awards covered 17 categories some of which include Restaurant Of The Year, Parish Gems, Best New Caterer, Peoples Choice and Chef Of The Year, which went to Martin Maginley, Executive Chef at Round Hill Hotel and Villas.
Over $1.5 million in scholarships and bursaries were awarded to Hospitality and Tourism Management students at the University Of Technology (UTECH) while 60 students received paid internships.
The success of this year’s staging has proven that Jamaica and the Caribbean are hungry for growth within the food industry. Setting such high standards, this edition of the Food Awards will certainly prove to the rest of the world that the stakes are indeed higher. Check our gallery for highlights
